• Software transaction mechanism writing FLAG over object fields is sufficient to abort conflicting HTM

• HTM must execute ReadNT/WriteNT algorithms (read barrier) to cooperate with the software mechanism

  • no extra silicon needed!
  • can still leverage compiler analysis

• Other synergies:

  • non-blocking functional array implementation
  • LL/SC sequences
