PPTP-linux: a PPTP client for Linux

This page is out-of-date. New development is here.

The last version of PPTP-linux on this site is 1.0.2.

PPTP-linux is free software, licensed under the terms of the GPL. See the file COPYING for details.

Previous versions of PPTP-linux can be found in the file archive.

What is PPTP-linux?

PPTP-linux allows you to connect to a PPTP server from a Linux or other Unix box (ports of pptp-linux to other Unix variants should be trivial, but have not yet been performed). See my IPfwd page for information on tunneling PPTP through Linux firewalls.

More information on the PPTP protocol can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/communications/pptp.htm. The PPTP specification draft is included in the PPTP-linux distribution, but can also be found at http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/communications/exes/draft-ietf-pppext-pptp-01.txt.

Update: Jason Rhoads has provided a packaged version of modifications originally done by Jason Gunthorpe to allow server operation of PPTP-linux on SunOS5.7. His email to me can be read here, and the tar.gz archive of his version can be downloaded from here.

New site: Further development of PPTP-linux is at http://www.scooter.cx/alpha/pptp.html.
