One by one I have seen friends closest find partners, engage, marry. I rejoice in their happiness. I know they have found equals far surpassing my match for them. Yet I suspect the number of me-friendly people finite, and I grieve to see each one go, watching nestling birds fly from the nests wondering how many remain. I suspect a hungry fox lurks within me, and am afraid. -- CSA. February 3, 1998.
